The best natural remedies for HEALTHY, GLOWY HAIR

Real beauty merges inner beauty with outer beauty, that is our physical body. Often, our skin and hair is a direct reflection of our emotional need states and our inner world. Frequently, hair loss patients suffer from excessive stress and anxiety,  Stress can reduce the oxygen and blood supply to certain areas of the scalp, neck and shoulder which could impact your hair health. Other causes of hair loss are thyroid problems, heavy metals in your blood, exposure to mold, pregnancy, telogen effluvium or nutritional deficiencies.

Its smart to look for the root cause and make a diagnosis before you select your unique treatment plan. New research shows us that there are connections between your gut and your hair. A condition called Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease which attacks your hair follicles. Taking a supplement is necessary for maintaining your hear health in this circumstance. I recommend implementing a good vitamin C, organic Sulfur and biotin to your morning routine. I must mention, that prior to consuming any vitamin or mineral, a comprehensive blood test is essential to test for deficiencies. consider getting a full thyroid panel done by your doctor. Test your body for any food sensitivities also as they may compromise your gut health.

My favourite tips to achieve healthy, glowy hair:

  • Be gentle with your hair when wet as it is more elastic and can break more easily. do not brush hair when wet
  • Dry your hair with a silk or muslin cloth.
  • Massage your scalp regularly, especially at the base of your head, four fingers above your hairline as toxins could build up at that location.
  • consider using aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, rosemary, stinging nettle tea, or rice water topically to stimulate growth
  • Castor oil could be too heavy of an oil to put on the roots of your hair. I recommend testing it on yourself first.
  • The best oil to put on hair after showers is jojoba oil. this will provide the most moisture compared to any other oil.
  • Be mindful about what goes on your scalp. Use natural hair care products, it is ideal if it is fragrance, and sulphate free so as not to strip hair of its natural oils.
  • Foaming shampoo should be avoided as the chemical that cause shampoo to foam is quite drying
  • Reduce consumption of trans fats and sugar as it is highly acidic and destroys essential B vitamins. If you must have sugar, don't exceed 12 grams and consume prior to your meal.
  • Get enough proteins, zincc, iron, omega 3's and selenium.
  • Consume dark greens and vegetables and activated nuts. It is important to soak nuts such as walnuts and almonds for a few hours (check online for specific choice) to reap the full benefits.
  • Pastured chicken or lamb broth will give your hair the necessary collagen for glowy/ healthy hair. Combine the broth with abcorbic acid for optimal absorption.
  • focus on stress management and balancing your hormones.

our suggestions

A special mix might include a mix of herbs: Maritime Pine Bark, Sage, Nettle, Rue, Prickly Ash, Vervain, Ginseng, Rosemary and Rosehips, as well as the Bach Flower Remedy Crab Apple.

In addition, I normally recommend massage with a little rosemary oil or rosemary hair rinse to improve scalp circulation and health. You should be aware however, that any hair follicles that are already damaged will not recover, and massage initially will seem to cause more hair loss.
